How to Book a Companion Safely in Tanzania: A Practical Checklist
A step-by-step checklist for booking a companion in Tanzania: verifying a profile, protecting your privacy, agreeing terms up front, handling payment and knowing the warning signs.
By Waremboo Editors
Short answer: verify the profile, agree the terms and price in writing before you meet, choose a public first meeting, pay by mobile money rather than cash where possible, and tell someone where you will be. Any request to skip these steps — especially a demand for full payment up front — is a reason to walk away.
1. Verify the profile before you contact anyone
- Look for recent photos and more than one of them.
- Check whether the profile is verified on the directory.
- Read any reviews, and note whether they are recent and specific.
- Be sceptical of a profile with perfect photos and no history at all.
2. Protect your privacy
Use a separate phone number or messaging account for first contact. Do not send your home address, workplace, ID documents or banking details. Share the meeting venue and time with a friend instead. On this site, contact details are only revealed when you choose to reveal them — keep it that way until you have met.
3. Agree the terms in writing
Before meeting, confirm in a message: the date and time, the duration, the total price in TZS, the meeting place, and who covers transport. A written summary protects both sides and makes the arrangement unambiguous. Keep it respectful and factual.
4. Meet in public first
For a first booking, a hotel lobby, a restaurant or a bar is safer than a private address. Arrive separately. Tell someone where you are and when you expect to be back.
5. Handle payment sensibly
- A small deposit is normal; the full amount up front is not.
- Mobile money (M-Pesa, Airtel Money, Tigo Pesa) leaves a record — prefer it over cash.
- Never pay with gift cards, cryptocurrency or by sending bank details.
- Confirm the total again before paying anything.
6. Consent and conduct
Consent is required every time and can be withdrawn at any point. Confirm the other person is over 18 — no exceptions. Treat people as professionals: the arrangement is a booking, not an entitlement.
7. Know the warning signs
- Pressure to pay the full amount before meeting
- A price far below the market rate
- Refusal to speak on a call or send a current photo
- Requests to move the conversation off-platform immediately
- Any mention of underage involvement — stop and report
8. Health and wellbeing
Carry protection, get tested regularly at a clinic you trust, and do not rely on assumptions about anyone's status. Free and low-cost testing is available in most Tanzanian cities.
9. Understand the local context
Sex work is criminalised in Tanzania, and public order and decency rules are enforced from time to time. Independent of any platform's terms, you should understand that bookings carry legal risk and behave accordingly. This page is practical guidance, not legal advice.

Frequently asked
Should I pay a deposit?
A modest deposit is normal practice; a demand for the full fee before you meet is not.
How do I know a profile is genuine?
Verification badges, recent photos, review history and consistency between messages and the profile are the strongest signals.
What if something goes wrong?
Leave, do not escalate, and report the profile to the directory. If you are in immediate danger, contact the police.
